TLC Online Workshop Descriptions
Level 2: Basic Assessment and Training (four 2 hour sessions, $325)
This workshop teaches how to understand brain activation patterns as they are identified in the TLC Assessment. Frequency/state relationships and the concept of Tone are presented. The assessment's Analyze, Heads and Report pages are covered as they relate to TLC's training categories. The workshop reviews each pattern, its basis in the brain, how it is seen in the EEG, related symptoms and training approaches. Detailed manual and Power Point slides are included.
Level 3: Managing the Training process (four 2 hr sessions, $325)
Explore outcome-based coaching, session design, protocol selection and adjunctive training materials. Discuss motivation and intervention strategies for difficult client and support group situations. Review methods for keeping records, evaluating and reporting changes. Learn when to change protocols, and when to end training. MP3 audio recordings of all sessions, detailed manual and Power Point slides included.
Trainer's Practicum (six 2 hour sessions, $450)
Prerequisite: Level 2 and familiarity with TLC Assessment. (limit: 10) Each participant submits one assessment for the group to review. Ideally you will develop your own plan for each case prior to the meeting to practice. The first two-hour session covers "skimming" the Report, Histograms, Maps and Variance pages to identify the "organizing principle” (not covered in Level 2) and data artifacting. In each of the next five two-hour sessions the group will develop training plans for 2 assessments (one in each hour).
Getting the Most from BioExplorer (four 2 hour sessions, $325)
BioExplorer software provides a broad range of feedback and protocol options for a variety of training devices. If you have installed BE and a training device (help available), you'll be able to practice what is being demonstrated on your own computer. Topics covered include changing properties and training parameters, customizing feedback, setting up DVD, video and music feedback, adapting prepared designs and evaluating training results in BioReview. You will also get experience creating new training protocols and new reports from scratch. Power Point slides included.
Using the TLC BioExplorer Designs (one 4 hour session, $175)
Options available in the TLC design package for BioExplorer will be covered, including filtering issues, squish/squash/windowed squash, standard 1 and 2 channel reward/inhibit options, coherence/synchrony and peak frequency designs, percent and ratio training approaches, alpha/theta and other specialty designs. Adjusting and customizing the designs will also be covered, as well as keeping templates and custom versions. Power point slides included.
Brain Prime (two 2 hour sessions, $175)
Covers changes in brain function with age as identified through research, whether these are unavoidable and irreversible or not, and how they can be trained. Both pathological and "normal" changes are covered. Describes the BrainPrime program developed in Atlanta to work with functional older adults. Power Point slides included.
