TLC Assssment Artifacting

EEG recording has the potential to record sharp spikes in amplitude (see left sample), which are usually related to eye blinks, muscle movements or other non-brain-related sources.

Averaging these very high numbers into the data results in excessive and incorrect EEG values and may skew the training decisions made in an assessment that includes them. By removing this artifact activity, the TLC Assess Artifacting files make the picture of the trainee’s EEG more accurate.

This new version of the TLC Assess Artifacting files for BioExplorer allows you to review each second of data and remove any dramatically different fast or slow activity. The artifacter highlights suspicious data for you.

After removing the data, a new mean for each minute of data is calculated to be used with the TLC Assess BE file. Note the difference—especially in slow frequencies—between the processed and unprocessd files shown in the graph on the right. This graph is taken from the sample at the left.
